In Feature 2 of the October 2025 issue, titled “Exploring Countermeasures for Fire Accidents Caused by LiB,” the Hiroshi Onoda Laboratory at Waseda University contributed an article entitled “A Study on the Deactivation of Ternary LiB under Cryogenic Conditions.”
The contribution presents technical research in which nail penetration tests were conducted under cryogenic conditions. The surface temperature and electromotive force characteristics of LiB were plotted in graphical form, and the experimental data were analyzed and evaluated to demonstrate the deactivation of LiB. The article concludes by stating that the research team plans to continue its studies with the aim of developing a low-cost, practical system.
